At the farm the feeders are close to the windows and the view
is great if I did this at home I would have a window full of
House Sparrows, on the farm you are rewarded with visits from
that charming little favorite the Black-capped Chickadee.

I found a lovely old collection of poems
about Chickadees at

“Were it not for me”,
Said a chickadee,
“Not a single flower on earth would be;
For under the ground they soundly sleep,
And never venture an upward peep,
Till they hear from me,
Chickadee—dee—dee!”

Oh my gosh....loved this post and the treasure trove of old chickadee poems you found. I will no doubt use a few of them now and then...

Farm chickadees seem far more obliging than the ones in my backyard.

Gotta love those chickadees! Cute shots! They are regular visitors in my yard here in Massachusetts, but when I lived in AZ I had to go up in the mountains to see them. So, I am enjoying them while I can! I see that you are also!

Hi Jan

I have found them to be fairly tame even though no one hand feeds them.

Hi Kathie

They are such a mainstay at the feeders I think we take them for granted but they are really quite charming little birds. A lot of fun to watch and they and Nuthatches can become quite tame once they are used to us.
